The Captivity of Israel

While the children of Israel was enjoying the land, they eventually forgot the Mosaic Covenant for the usage of that very land. Then came the time when God had to take them out of the land in fulfilment of His promise. That period of time is known as The Captivity when they were to be ruled by other kings away from the Promised Land.

The Reason for the Captivity

Yahweh gave to Moses specific instructions on the usage of the land.

The Sabbath Year

Lev 25 And the Lord spoke unto Moses on Mount Sinai, saying,

² “Speak unto the children of Israel and say unto them: ‘When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a sabbath unto the Lord.

³ Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard and gather in the fruit thereof,

⁴ but in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the Lord; thou shalt neither sow thy field nor prune thy vineyard.

This is with reference to a 7 year period where the 7th year shall be a sabbath of rest for the land.
