What is Bible Prophecy?

It is very important to be very clear regarding bible prophecy. We are not talking about future predictions. Man can make predictions. God will give us prophecies.

Are we splitting hairs here? Prediction, although dictionaries include prophecy as part of its definition, carries the connotation of a forecasting, foretelling but with possibility of error and generally has the implication of guesswork. A fortune teller predicts. A weatherman predicts. An economist predicts. A prophet of God prophesies. God gives us prophecies.

In simple terms, prophecy is really history yet to happen. Which also tells us that history is prophecy fulfilled when it is already come to pass what was spoken by God.

The one major difference between the bible and other religious books is that about 1/3 of the bible consists of prophecies. About half is fulfilled and another half yet to be fulfilled and these are regarding the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

Our key passage is Isaiah 46:9-10 "Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure".

And God has made it clear. His prophets can be proven which means a false prophet can also be clearly known.

Deut 18:22 "when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him."

Because God is telling us the end from the beginning, He knows what exactly will happen in the future and what He will do to make it happen. Hence, biblical prophecy is from God who tells us the end from the beginning.

No one will dare speak so much about the future and things that are not yet happen because when they do not happen accordingly, we will know that it is not true. And the details of what is revealed will tell us that bible prophecies are not ambiguous for when it comes to pass, we can all tell for certain that God has done His pleasure.

The bible is different. It is God's word and God wants us to know what He is planning to do from the beginning right until the end of the world. Who is so audacious to say such things unless He is truly Yahweh God.

The bible is surely God's word and we can trust in it and search it for the truth and eternal life.

To know God, read His prophecies and know what He says, has done and will do in the future. And the future of the end is not very far off now.
