The Big Bang Theory for the Origin of the Universe

Please bear in mind that this is a theory for the origin of the universe. It is popularized by atheists who believe in the theory of evolution. Although Darwin's theory was an attempt to explain the origin of species (which he failed to do so in his book), this theory has been extrapolated to explain the origins before animal life.

Now, evolutionists must explain the origins of everything and it is very difficult to be coherent about it. The difficulty lies in the postulating of different theories for different aspects of the universe and life itself.

So, let us begin first to understand the big bang theory so that we can compare with Genesis 1, God's account of the origin of the universe.

The most popular theory of our universe's origin centers on a cosmic cataclysm unmatched in all of history—the big bang. This theory was born of the observation that other galaxies are moving away from our own at great speed, in all directions, as if they had all been propelled by an ancient explosive force.

It is nevertheless a theory. It is an accepted observation that the other galaxies are moving away from our own galaxy which Edwin Hubble showed that the universe is expanding. Extrapolating this means that there was once a beginning of the universe when the galaxies are closer together.

Before the big bang, scientists believe, the entire vastness of the observable universe, including all of its matter and radiation, was compressed into a hot, dense mass just a few millimeters across. This nearly incomprehensible state is theorized to have existed for just a fraction of the first second of time.

The common notion is that everything was compressed into a small dot. Firstly, what was in that dot? How can all the mass and energy be compressed that way? Where did all this mass come from? Observe the words used - believe, nearly incomprehensible, theorized. These are not scientific words.

Furthermore, to explain the origin of the universe, one must consider not only matter but time and space. If you had matter and no time, when will you put it. If you had matter and no space, where will you put it. So where did time come from and where did the space for the dot come from to allow it to explode? Finally, where did the laws come from to define the explosion and the resulting actions?

Big bang proponents suggest that some 10 billion to 20 billion years ago, a massive blast allowed all the universe's known matter and energy—even space and time themselves—to spring from some ancient and unknown type of energy.

It is now accepted that the period is 20 billion years ago. This time has been lengthened since the beginning of the theory. The massive blast just happened? Space and time came from some ancient unknown type of energy? Since when space and time originate from energy?

Again, observe the words - spring from some ancient unknown, suggest - very unscientific words.

The theory maintains that, in the instant—a trillion-trillionth of a second—after the big bang, the universe expanded with incomprehensible speed from its pebble-size origin to astronomical scope. Expansion has apparently continued, but much more slowly, over the ensuing billions of years.

The theory puts the burden on time to explain how the unexplainable can happen.

Scientists can't be sure exactly how the universe evolved after the big bang. Many believe that as time passed and matter cooled, more diverse kinds of atoms began to form, and they eventually condensed into the stars and galaxies of our present universe.

It is true that scientists cannot be sure how the universe evolved after the big bang. They struggle with explaining the origins of the earth, sun, moon, stars, elements, and specifically, life itself. Furthermore, they avoid explaining the origins of all the laws of nature and physics.

Origins of the Theory

A Belgian priest named Georges LemaƮtre first suggested the big bang theory in the 1920s when he theorized that the universe began from a single primordial atom. The idea subsequently received major boosts by Edwin Hubble's observations that galaxies are speeding away from us in all directions, and from the discovery of cosmic microwave radiation by Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson.

The glow of cosmic microwave background radiation, which is found throughout the universe, is thought to be a tangible remnant of leftover light from the big bang. The radiation is akin to that used to transmit TV signals via antennas. But it is the oldest radiation known and may hold many secrets about the universe's earliest moments.

The big bang theory leaves several major questions unanswered. One is the original cause of the big bang itself. Several answers have been proposed to address this fundamental question, but none has been proven—and even adequately testing them has proven to be a formidable challenge.

There are more than several major questions unanswered.
  1. As stated, the original cause of the big bang itself - why did it bang (explode)?
  2. where did it bang? explain the origin of space
  3. when did it bang? explain the origin of time
  4. what banged? explain the origin of matter
  5. how did it bang? explain the origin of laws of nature
  6. who made it bang? explain the one (or as atheists would point to energy) responsible to start it all
It is true and honest to admit that none has been proven. Testing the theories will be close to impossible.

If you believe in the bible as to what God says about the origin of the universe and life itself, there is no way any scientist can prove the big bang theory at all. How do you prove a historical moment to define everything that resulted from it? How do you explain the origin of time, space and matter, all three which must exist together at the same time for existence of the universe to be possible?

Genesis 1 tells us that there was NO BIG BANG. God was very clear but many Christians struggle to harmonize evolution with God's creation and that results in theological gymnastics.

Remember, God says what He means and means what He says. He doesn't need man to explain how He created all things. He tells us in plain language and expects us to believe in Him.

Furthermore, the acts and steps of creation as God so revealed harmonizes with real science, not the theory of evolution.
